The Naturland logo
The 'Naturland - Verband für ökologischen Landbau e. V.' was founded in 1982 with the aim of establishing worldwide 100% ecological and fair agriculture. The Naturland guidelines are stricter than the EU organic regulation. Naturland was the first ecological group to develop guidelines for forest use and, since the mid-1990s, also for aquaculture. Today, aquafarmers in more than 20 countries work in accordance with these constantly updated guidelines.
The Naturland standards apply both to production and to social conditions. Only feed certified in accordance with Naturland guidelines is permitted for use. Stocking densities must not exceed 10 kg/m³. Strict regulations apply to nature and animal conservation. No chemicals may be used and it is not permitted to rear fish in artificial containers. This excludes the use of low-emission closed-loop systems.
Like the ASC and EU organic logos, the Naturland label is intended as a guide for consumers.
